Best Boxing Gloves For Beginners
Are you a beginner female boxer looking to kickstart your training? Look no further, because I am going to share with you what I have discovered after 7 years of training. When I had no gear my kickboxing coach recommended Fairtex as the go-to brand. I am so happy I listened because he clearly knew what he was talking about. I have seen many a brands start to flake off, and disintegrate over time, especially the kind of gloves you buy at Ross! For some reason we women think we will be good and save money this way, but it will be out our wrists, knuckles and fingers that will end up paying for it in the end. Please keep that in mind. You are paying to protect your hands while you bang on a large bag! Let's not go too cheap on this one, it won't be worth it.
Best Mid-Range
Muay Thai Boxing & Boxing Gloves
These gloves are a great place to start. It is more than the budget route, but in my opinion it is worth spending that extra $50 upfront. I am partial to Muay Thai because this is the style I am trained in, Muay Thai Boxing allows you to strike with your elbows and knees and legs. Kickboxing allows you to Kick and sometimes knee your opponent and boxing is just that, only striking with gloved fists. Everyone who training in these art forms are all boxing on a heavy bag plus or minus the other limbs. Either of these brands would be sufficient for adding boxing to your fitness routine.

BOXING HAND WRAPS ARE A MUST!
It is common practice and assumed that if you train in boxing you are supposed to wrap your hands. This is something I haven't taken very seriously, and picked up bad habits from training under someone who didn't make a point to make it a priority, but now that I have some mileage on my hands I am urging all my students and especially any beginners to start with their hands wrapped as good practice. Wrapping your hands for boxing is an art form in itself so, for my classes we don't really spend time wrapping our hands traditionally so what I do recommend are buying quick hand wraps. These are glove like hand wraps that you slip on and velcro at the wrist. They run small so make sure you measure. They are easy on and off and easy to wash and it is better than nothing! Make sure when you are buying boxing gloves, you buy hand wraps.
